The 9.41-hectare vineyard of Chateau Bonalgue is planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and are located just northeast of Libourne in a slightly lower sector of the appellation. The vineyard consists of sand, gravel, and clay with studded with iron. 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc aged in 50% new French oak barrels. 2016 perhaps the best vintage of the last 10 years, and has produced a red wine loaded with dark, intense yet supple fruit that is starting to open up and demonstrate an array of complex tobacco and coffee notes. Drinking now and for at least the next 10 years.
