The oldest estate still standing in Rioja Alta is Marqués de Murrieta, which was established in 1852. Maria Vargas, who won Tim Atkin MW’s Winemaker of the Year award in 2017, is the winemaker present today. This Gran Reserva Rioja is full-bodied and generous, with notes of red and black fruits, spicy wood, and vanilla. Before serving at 16 to 18 degrees with a roast dinner, decant for at least 30 minutes.
