Marquis d’Angerville is one of the 3 greatest domaines in Volnay, and their wines certainly the hardest to find. A move to biodynamics has lifted quality even higher in recent years, however any visitor to their cellar will have noticed a distinct shortage of full barrels due to a succession of very small vintages, which has only increased the rarity. Quality remains stellar – this is ethereal Pinot Noir. The steep-sloping limestone rich Champans vineyard is one of Volnay’s best, producing wines of finesse. This 2011 is just entering its drinking window, and will only appreciate in price.
